Service-learning Log Activity 1.4 Reflection

The project brought awareness to the learners and school. The effectiveness of service learning was personal and interpersonal development. Through service-learning, I’ve learnt to reflect on my experiences and develop critical-thinking skills, such as the ability to bring disparate elements of experience together in meaningful ways and to analyse information for patterns and deeper meaning.

✓ The successes and challenges of the project.

It was a challenge as time was limited to prepare a project, but the outcome was worth it and a success, learners and parents contributed and engaged.

✓ How has service-learning changed you personally?

It has given me the opportunity to work with a variety of diverse people, it also thought me patience and empathy.

✓ How has service-learning developed you professionally? What new knowledge, skills and/or attitudes have you gained?

It gave me a sense of social responsibility and citizenship skills. It has refined by decision-making abilities; it has helped me learn about the community I’ve engaged with.

✓ Describe the benefit of this initiative to the school and comment on its sustainability.

Learners of the school will see what it feels like to give back to the community and help those in need and might also take up this act on their own by giving back to the community in their own way in future or as a class or individual which will benefit the school and community.
